It used to be so simple, didn’t it? Boys went in the boy’s restroom and girls went in the girl’s restroom. What could possible turn that into a point of contention? The short answer is foolish people. What amazes me the most is that these foolish people are not poorly educated and ignorant people. It is the ones that Paul referred to in Romans 1:22 when he said: “Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools”.
People with college educations, many from very prestigious schools, believe that people with mental disorders should be allowed to use any restroom they want. They are saying that one’s sex is different from one’s gender. You may be born as a physical male or female but you can choose your gender; “identify” with any gender you want. Apparently identifying with another gender allows you to somehow magically become that gender.
Let’s call a spade a spade. That is just outright dumb. It flies in the face of simple common sense. From a Biblical point of view, that thinking is far from the mind and character of God, but even lost people agree that a boy thinking he is a girl (or visa versa) is a mental problem and that person needs help.
So what do we do? First, as a Christian, we are called to compassion, not fear or hate. God tells us to see them through His eyes and love them as He loves them. But then, we try to help them, not pander to their sickness and “affirm” their illness as normal. They need people who lead them to knowledge of their creator’s purpose and plan for humanity. We certainly don’t need to just tell them the problem is with society and not them. And we surely don’t need to start letting boys and girls use restroom for the opposite sex.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools.
